In about one month's time, Sculptors Queensland is holding it's annual members exhibition and prize at the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens in Brisbane's inner western suburbs. It's the biggest event on the SQ calendar and this year a record number of members have entered a record number of sculptures to be displayed both indoors in the auditorium and also larger works distributed throughout the botanical gardens themselves. And did I also mention that this year I am the Sculptors Queensland Exhibition Coordinator.
Suffice to say, it's been a steady build of tasks and meetings and correspondence and forms and banking and phone calls and emails and even the odd hand written letter. I'm still trying to finish my piece for the outdoor section and the usual grind of paying work goes on. In fact, somewhat perversely, I've been a bit swamped with work lately. Just what you need when you're busy.
But who's complaining. Other projects I'm supposed to be working on are lagging and I know I'm letting some folks down but I've not forgotten and I will get back to it soon.
In the meantime, here's the most recent scrawlings from my sketchbook. Some ideas I hope to take further and others I may not.
