The next project for my sculpture course is some kind of garden light. The idea is to mold the body of a Tuna in fibreglass with clear perspex fins fitted between the two sides. The whole thing gets mounted on some kind of chassis (galvanised tin maybe) with an LED strip light inside and propped up on a stainless steel rod. If it all goes to plan, the clear plastic fins will glow in the dark when the light gets turned on. Both the apprentices were keen to hang around for the splitting of the mold. They had ideas of getting let loose on the plaster with a couple of hammers but were sadly disappointed.

This is the hebel tentacle I've been working on for the last couple of weeks which is loosely based on the tentacle maquette I made a couple of weeks ago. I think this one would look nice permanently installed in the garden. I'm thinking, Cephalopods have more than one tentacle right. So I bought another block of hebel this morning for tentacle number two. Watch this space.
