What Next?

Four weeks till end of semester and a few more paintings to get to. If the last painting was a landscape (is there a proper name for paintings of structures?) then I guess the painting from these studies will be a still life.

Story Bridge - Finished

After all the studies (which included much more of the bridge) I decided the most interesting part of the scene was down below. This one is painted on a piece of masonite cut from a larger sheet I had lying around under the house.

More Bridge Studies

Monday nights class was about further developing studies from the previous week, working towards a finished piece in several weeks. This week I painted a larger scale version of the same image with a different colour palette.

Can't say I'm real thrilled with the pink. Remember Brisbane Bitter?

Another self portrait

Watching over the kids in the bath, I saw my own reflection, so I drew it. It seemed a good way to pass the time. In between asking them not to splash, hit, scratch and otherwise intrude on one another in a negative way.

Tone and Colour Studies

This week we started studies for a larger work, one "tone" using simply black and white and the other "colour". I'd taken the kids into the city last week to photograph the Story Bridge and I referenced one of these photos to make these two paintings.

Ness Not Finished Yet

I wasn't going to post this painting till it was finished but I wanted to record it at this stage primarily because it could go either way from here. Tonight is painting class and I'm tossing up covering the whole thing in a white glossy glaze to sort of "Haze" it out a bit. At the moment it's looking a bit ham fisted and guady. And I'm having a little trouble with the face.
